The Wilderness Mountain Water System provides drinking water to a small, residential Water Service Area near the top of Mount Matheson in East Sooke. CRD Integrated Water Services is responsible for the overall operation of the water system with day-to-day operation provided by the CRD Water Management Division. The design and construction of water system facilities is overseen by the CRD Infrastructure Engineering Division. The quality of drinking water provided to customers in the Wilderness Mountain Water System is overseen by the CRD Water Quality Division.

New Water Treatment Plant
Construction of the new water treatment plant has been completed and the new plant water was put into operation in early October. The new treatment process includes:
- Cartridge filtration
- Ultraviolet light disinfection
- Chloramine disinfection
Some additional work remains to be completed on the road leading to the plant.
