CRD Appoints Panorama Recreation Senior Manager
Victoria BC – The CRD and the Peninsula Recreation Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Hennigar to the position of Senior Manager, Panorama Recreation effective March 3, 2010.
Ian Hennigar brings his significant background in leadership, recreation and sports administration. In his previous senior capacities as Executive Director of the Mary Winspear Centre, of Curl BC, and of the Ontario Speed Skating Association, and as Vice President of Canadian Sports Products Inc., Ian brings a broad background of experience and understanding of sports and business leadership and community partnering. As a world class speed skating coach, Ian has lead numerous athletes to national and Olympic team positions including two Olympic medalists and two World Records holders. A resident of the Saanich Peninsula, Ian has extensive knowledge of the local community and values the importance of maintaining and building positive partnerships to enhance recreation experiences.
“We are at a very exciting place as an organization with our recently expanded facility and services on the Saanich Peninsula and I am very pleased to have Ian join the CRD team,” said CRD General Manager of Parks and Community Services, Lloyd Rushton. “Ian has a wealth of experience in the field and his dedication to the community is simply outstanding.”
These sentiments were echoed by Peninsula Recreation Commission Chair, Tim Chad. “Ian is a terrific asset to recreation and sport in our community. We have the one of the best recreation services in the Capital Region, with great facilities, programs and staff, and Ian’s abilities and sense of community partnering will continue to enhance the experiences for our citizens and our communities. I very much look forward to working with Ian as we continue to provide first class recreation services for years to come.”
Ian replaces Doug Henderson, who will be joining the District of Saanich as their Director of Parks and Recreation.
