What to Expect During a Water Outage
Why We Have to Shut Off the Water
The Capital Regional District (CRD) performs routine maintenance to ensure compliance with water regulations. Some maintenance requires water to be shut off. When a planned water shut off is scheduled, the CRD will notify residents at least 24 hours in advance. Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances such as watermain breaks, an unplanned water outage is required. The CRD endeavors to restore water operations as quickly as possible in the event of an unplanned water outage.

After a Water Outage
After services are restored, you may experience a sudden burst of air from your tap or discoloured water. This is normal and should only last a few minutes. If your water is discoloured, run the tap until the water is clear.
