Cops for Cancer/Tour De Rock Spin Challenge
Calling all cars! There was an APB out for uniformed individuals seeking the ultimate challenge of being Spin Bike Champions. Sidney RCMP and Central Saanich Police Departments broke all kinds of spin bike regulations at the Panorama Recreation Centre's’ “Fittest Force” Challenge on September 28th! All proceeds for this event will be directed to the annual “Cops for Cancer” fundraising drive. Read more

Eric Sherwood Trail Dedication Ceremony
The Peninsula Recreation Commission is proud to announce that the 1km fitness trail around Panorama will be named the Eric Sherwood Trail in honour of the vital role Mr. Sherwood played as a founding member of the Recreation Commission in 1977. Mr. Sherwood was a driving force for the creation of the Panorama Recreation Centre. Join us on Monday, October 31st @ 1pm for the dedication ceremony at the south parking lot entrance to Panorama Recreation on Forest Park Drive.

The Big Burn Fundraiser
The‘Big Burn’ was a great success with lots of pink shiny faces and pools of sweat on the spin room floor. There was a full turnout and some eager spares ready to relieve their tired comrades if need be. Over $1000 was raised for Muscular Dystrophy Canada by all 3 local fire departments with Sidney Fire Department being the top fundraiser. Congratulations! Read more

September 2010 – Planned Power Outage
A planned power outage is being conducted in order to connect the main hydro to the mini plant for the SPWWTP heat recovery project. The outage is planned for Wednesday, September 8th from 1–3pm. As a result the centre will be closed. Thank you for your understanding.
June 2010 – Peninsula Recreation Commission’s Strategic Plan 2010-2014
The Peninsula Recreation Commission is embarking on the strategic plan for 2010 through 2014. The final report was presented by Professional Environmental Recreation Consultants (PERC) to the Peninsula Recreation Commission in June.

Program Registrations, Pass Sales, Facility Rental, etc. Between May 1 and June 30, 2010
- The implementation of the HST as prescribed by the Province of BC requires collection of HST starting May 1, 2010 on any product or service or portion thereof delivered on or after July 1, 2010.
- Any additional taxes payable, due to HST implementation, during the transition period of May 1 through June 30 will be charged to customers accounts July 1 and will then be due and payable
- Programs for children 14 years and under will be exempt from HST

The type of food products being sold through vending machines in schools and provincial government buildings is changing. A program with four categories: Choose Most (CM); Choose Sometimes (CS); Choose Least (CL); and Not Recommended (NR), has been implemented to provide healthier choices for students and staff. October 2003 - Salt Water Swimming
Panorama was the first public pool in Greater Victoria to offer salt purification in the pool. No more gas chlorine, which means the water is softer on skin, eyes and hair, and also easier on the colours in your bathing suit! The pool change rooms (family, special needs, women's, men's) are fully accessible following a major renovation, completed in October 2003. Join us for a swim!
