planning framework graphicResponding to community needs, the CRD Board of Directors identifies priorities and sets the strategic course for the CRD over a four-year period, including an annual check-in and review of Board Priorities. The CRD then creates a Corporate Plan, proposing actions to deliver on the CRD Board’s Priorities, approved plans and ongoing service commitments.

Board Priorities

The CRD Board Priorities confirm the CRD’s vision, mission and mandate and set the long-term strategic direction for the CRD in order to respond to community needs.

For the 2023-2026 mandate, the CRD Board agreed to focus on the following regional priorities:

  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Climate Action & Environment
  • First Nations
  • Governance

The CRD Board holds an annual check-in to discuss and confirm the strategic direction for the following year. Direction received informs recommendations brought forward by staff through the annual service and financial planning process.

Corporate Plan

The CRD Corporate Plan outlines how the CRD will respond to community needs and deliver on the CRD Board Priorities, ongoing service commitments and approved plans over the four year term.

To ensure the CRD is accountable and appropriately resourced, the CRD Board reviews and approves these plans, determines funding and timing and measures progress through quarterly and annual reports.
