  • Park Re-Openings After Wildfire near Sooke Potholes (Old Man Lake Wildfire)

    The Capital Regional District (CRD) is re-opening official trails within the Sea to Sea Regional Park as well as a section of Sooke Potholes Regional Park and Galloping Goose Regional Trail after closures due to a wildfire in the area. The CRD anticipates some areas, particularly the northern parts of the Sea to Sea Regional Park, northern sections of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail and Kapoor Regional Park to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

  • Imaging is Power Campaign Exceeds $11 Million Goal

  • CRD Distributes Over $2.7 million in arts funding to record number of grant recipients

    This year, the Capital Regional District (CRD) Arts & Culture Support Service (Arts Service) has awarded 101 grants totalling $2,738,370 to support local not-for-profit arts programming. Both the number of grants awarded and the funding total were record highs.

  • Wildfire near Sooke Potholes (Old Man Lake Wildfire)

  • The CRD acquires property on Galiano Island for affordable rental housing

    The Capital Regional District (CRD) has acquired the property at 280 Georgeson Bay Road on Galiano Island for the proposed Thuthiqut Hulelum’ Housing Project ("Forest Homes" in the Hul'q'umi'num' language). The $672,000 purchase is a move to advance a 20-unit rental housing complex aimed at enhancing the Islands affordable living options.

  • More Hours, More Convenience at Hartland Landfill

    Beginning June 15, 2024, Hartland Landfill’s new Saturday hours will be 7 am to 5 pm, adding three extra hours for a one-year pilot period. Weekday hours remain Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm and it will continue to be closed on Sundays and statutory holidays.
