What level of funding assistance is available?

An annual budget of $20,000 has been allocated to support community clean-up projects. A maximum of $1,000 per project has been set as a guideline. Requests for more than $1,000 require CRD Board approval and will be assessed on a case by case basis.

What does funding cover?

Funding is provided to cover the following costs:

  • Rental of containers and equipment
  • Purchase of bags and gloves
  • Transportation
  • Processing and marketing (recyclables) or disposal (garbage)

What costs are not covered?

  • Labour
  • Purchase of refuse or recycling containers, tools or other equipment
  • Meals, food or refreshments

This program provides funding assistance for the removal of recyclable and non-recyclable materials that have been discarded inappropriately as litter. The scope of the program does not extend to projects that first generate the waste to be removed (example: invasive plant removal).
