Overview

Salt Spring Island Parks, Arts, Recreation & Culture (SSIPARC) services and facilities are overseen by the Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission (LCC).

The LCC was established in 2023 following a referendum and election of commissioners. On an ongoing basis, the LCC oversees and advises on:

  • economic development,
  • wastewater disposal,
  • community parks and recreation,
  • pool facility
  • parks and recreation facilities,
  • small craft harbour facilities (Fernwood Dock),
  • transit and transportation services,
  • street lighting,
  • grants-in-aid,
  • compensation for livestock injured by dogs, and
  • the contribution services for arts, public library, and search and rescue.

The CRD publishes minutes online after a meeting has taken place. Minutes are never official until they have been adopted at the next meeting. The minutes and agendas are available in PDF format.
