Volunteering
Your local emergency program can help you get involved in some of the volunteer opportunities listed below.
Emergency Support Services (ESS)
Join the Emergency Support Services (ESS) and play a crucial role in assisting evacuees forced from their homes by fires, floods, earthquakes, or other emergencies. As an ESS volunteer, you may provide emergency food, lodging, clothing, emotional support, crisis information, and help reunite separated families and individuals. Contact your local ESS team to learn how you can get involved and support your community.
Search and Rescue (SAR)
Become a Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteer and receive training to conduct wilderness, ground, inland water, and urban search and rescue operations in your local area. Contact your local SAR team to learn how you can get involved and help save lives.
Fire Protection
Become a firefighter and join a team of dedicated first responders. Contact your local fire department today to learn how you can volunteer and help protect your neighbours.
Emergency Communications
Join the Capital Regional Emergency Radio Coordinators Committee (CRERCC) and participate in the Capital Region Net every Wednesday at 19:30 on the assigned net control frequency of 145.430 MHz (-600) with a 100 Hz tone. To get involved with your local Emergency Communications Team and participate in exercises like this, contact your local Emergency Program.
