Leak detection surveying in effect for the Regional Water Supply Service Oct. 28 - Dec. 31
In order to ensure that there are no major leaks within the Regional Water Supply Service, the CRD has hired a contractor (Hetek Solutions) to perform acoustic leak detection throughout the system. Acoustic leak detection involves contractors using specialized equipment to "listen to the pipes" to hear if water is escaping through cracks. Acoustic leak detection is non-invasive, quiet and does not involve heavy machinery. The leak detection survey poses no major inconveniences to the public as areas surveyed will predominantly be public roads and sidewalks.
As water mains run throughout the region, there is a possibility that contractors may need to access private property. Access to private property to survey water mains is granted to the CRD as the water purveyor who is responsible for maintaining water infrastructure.
Leak detection will begin October 28 and conclude on or before December 31.
