CONTRACT 2022-788
INVITATION TO TENDER
Sealed Tenders, plainly marked on the envelope "Tender for Buck & Magic Lakes Floating Platform Installations 2022-788" will be received by the Purchaser, Integrated Water Services of the Capital Regional District at their offices at 479 Island Highway, Victoria, British Columbia up to 2:00pm local time on July 4, 2022, at which time they will be opened “in private”.
The works to be constructed under this Contract generally include, but is not limited to, the following:
• Construction and installation of two (2) - 4m x 3m floating maintenance platforms to allow CRD staff to perform maintenance on the water intake screen heads at both Buck Lake and Magic Lake located on Pender Island. This work includes the purchase and installation of all platform, winch system and anchoring components\materials.
• Modification to the existing Magic Lake water intake line is required. This task includes purchase and installation of all hose, pipe, fittings and materials required to modify the existing water intake from a fixed pipe with screen head to a flexible pipe configuration allowing the screen head to be raised proud of the water surface for maintenance. Issued for Tender (IFT) design drawings with specifications are included in this Invitation to Tender (ITT).
• Removal and disposal of one existing platform located on Buck Lake is required. The existing floating platform is a decaying cedar wood plank deck that sits on two ‘Enviro-Floats’. The deck area measures 2.6m x 1.7m and includes a mounted hand winch. The platform is anchored to the lake by two large precast concrete weights with two 300mm diameter x 1.3m long, 500lb counterweights as stabilizers. The concrete weights may be abandoned but may need to be moved so they do not interfere with the new platform anchoring installation. All other platform and anchoring components and materials are expected to be removed from the site. No existing components are to be reused. Refer to CRD Record Drawing 27-D239-1 for details.
• Diver work is expected in the installation of the platforms, removal of the existing Buck Lake platform and its anchoring system and for modification of the Magic Lake water intake. The existing Buck Lake water intake line does not require any modifications.
• The work will include production of shop drawings. Record drawings will be produced by the consulting engineer with the contractor expected to provide red-line markups detailing any changes to the construction drawings.
• Production of an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manual is not required. The consulting engineer will produce the O&M Manual with the contractor expected to provide all relevant equipment lists, manuals, safety data sheets (SDS), etc. required to complete the O&M manual.
