Project Description:

July 16, 2024 - Addendum #1 issued

"Tender for Selkirk Trestle Critical Repairs 2024 – Construction Services – Phase I Contract No. 20.22.05-02” will be received by Genevieve Tokgoz,  Manager of Regional Trails & Trestle Renewals, Parks & Environmental Services of the Capital Regional District at their offices at 625 Fisgard Street, Victoria, British Columbia up to 2:00:00  pm local time on July 23, 2024, at which time they will be opened in private.

The works to be constructed under this Contract generally includes, but is not limited to, the following: The Phase 1 repair project consists of critical below deck repairs required for the Selkirk Trestle. The work includes:

 
• Timber brace repairs for end-of-life members.
• Pile repairs using Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) jacket system.
• Pile repairs using galvanized steel pile clamps.
• Strengthening of raised portion of trestle (constructed on 1995) using galvanized steel braces.
• Addition of new steel beam to replace capacity of completed perished pile 4,F (pile to be removed
and disposed of by the Contractor).
• Preparation and re-painting of structural steel frames and elements added in 1995.
• Replace two existing pressure treated wood access stairs with new aluminum stairs.
• Miscellaneous repairs shown in the structural drawing package.

Refer to specification package and structural drawings for further details. Portions of the work have been included in the drawings, specifications and tender schedule as provisional items and are intended to be added to the contract at the discretion of the CRD. These include repairs that may only be included in this phase of the project as allowed by the current budget. Provisional items also include Allowances for Contractor Discovery, as described in the Specifications.

Proponents may be awarded follow-on work without a competition.

Vendors are encouraged to check BC Bid regularly for updates and not rely on e-mail notifications, as e-mail is inherently unreliable and subject to interruptions.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

A mandatory pre-tender site meeting will be held at the south end of the Selkirk Trestle at 2:00:00PM, Thursday June 27, 2024. Attendees should wear appropriate footwear for walking on the mudline below the trestle. Tenderers are recommended to visit the site to ensure that they have satisfied themselves of everything and of every condition that could affect the execution of the work. Tenderers are encouraged to make enquiries to satisfy themselves of the work requirements.
