The Capital Regional District (CRD) is seeking proposals from qualified, experienced, professional, and multi-disciplinary consulting firms to lead the development a Regional Affordable Housing Acquisition Strategy (the “Project”).
The objective of the Project is to develop an acquisition strategy that aims to increase and/or preserve the supply of affordable rental housing within the urban areas of the region. The acquisition strategy will be composed of several acquisition models, accompanied by evaluation tools used to guide investment decisions and assess acquisition opportunities.
It is intended that implementation of the acquisition strategy will be supported through additional funding through a municipal consent/alternative approval process that is currently underway. This commitment to regional investment will be used to support engagement with prospective partners and signify the potential to leverage and layer funds to achieve a greater impact than would otherwise be possible with CRD funds alone.
