SEAPARC Opens DeMamiel Creek Golf Course

Apr 28, 2020

Victoria, BC– After careful consideration, the Sooke & Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) is moving forward with opening the DeMamiel Creek Golf Course in Sooke on Friday, May 1, 2020. Significant steps have been taken to support golfer and staff safety in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and to meet provincial health guidelines.

A number of strategies have been implemented to support a healthy and safe environment.

  • Tee times spread out
  • Touch points reduced
    • ball washers and bunker rakes removed
    • raised cups installed an inch above ground to prevent golf balls going in and contact with flags
  • Club rentals are not available at this time
  • Golfers are asked to leave the course immediately after play is finished

Signage is posted around the course reminding players to observe health and safety precautions and physical distancing regulations. These measures will help to ensure a safe outdoor recreation space for all. Staff will continue to actively monitor the status of the COVID-19 outbreak on a daily basis and adjust precautionary procedures as dictated by the Provincial Health Officer.
