CRD Traffic Safety Commission Cst. Sarah Beckett Memorial Scholarship opens for application

Victoria, BC – For the fifth year, the Capital Regional District (CRD) Traffic Safety Commission will be awarding the Cst. Sarah Beckett Memorial Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is presented annually to post-secondary students who live in the capital region and demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, community service and an expressed interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement.

“In honour of Constable Beckett’s legacy and the valuable job of police in improving traffic safety, this scholarship supports students who are developing careers to help their community," said Fred Haynes, Chair of the Traffic Safety Commission.

Applications for the 2021 scholarship will be accepted until June 25, 2021. The application form and criteria are available at https://crdtrafficsafety.ca/cst-sarah-beckett-memorial-scholarship/.

Cst. Sarah Beckett lost her life in a tragic automobile crash in 2016. Subsequently, the CRD Traffic Safety Commission raised funds and created the scholarship to elevate awareness of traffic safety issues and the community service provided by police. The CRD Traffic Safety Commission is responsible for traffic safety education programs and makes recommendations to the CRD Board to increase road safety in the region.
