Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District (CRD) Arts Commission has approved $121, 550 in funding for 17 regional not-for-profit arts organizations through the year’s second Arts & Culture Support Service Project, Series and Extended Programming grant (Project grants) intake. This brings the total 2021 Project grant allocation to $240,000 distributed to 31 arts organizations, providing funding consistent with previous years.
“With BC’s Restart plan anticipated to allow for a return to organized gatherings over the coming months, we can expect to experience some incredible in-person and digital arts programming this year,” says CRD Arts Commission Chair Jeremy Loveday. “These projects promise to make the remainder of this year one of great creativity and renewal demonstrating once again how arts are so central to life in the region.”
Recipients will be developing and presenting arts programming across the capital region, with funding supporting projects ranging from Le Petit Salon, an art show on Pender Island, to an artistic research lab from Metchosin Arts and Cultural Centre to a mural festival in Esquimalt. Three recipients will receive funding for the first time: Esquimalt Community Arts Hub, Voices in Motion Choral Society and Wonderheads Theatre. View the list of recipients with funding allocation below.
The approved grants meet the CRD’s mandate to support, promote and celebrate arts and culture. The CRD Arts & Culture Support Service is supported by Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Highlands, Metchosin, Sooke and Southern Gulf Islands.
