The Peninsula Recreation Commission, which provides recreation programs and services throughout the Saanich Peninsula, is inviting the communities of North Saanich, Central Saanich, Sidney and residents of the Pauquachin First Nation, Tsawout First Nation, Tseycum First Nation and Tsartlip First Nation to take part in building Panorama Recreation's strategic priorities for the next five years.
Community engagement is an important part of recreation strategic planning. The goal is to involve all the communities served by Panorama Recreation, so that our Strategic Plan for the next five years reflects the needs, wishes, and ideas of the people in those communities.
The Peninsula Recreation Commission is seeking to identify new opportunities and build on past successes, as well as identify long-term needs of the communities served. The input received during the engagement process will inform the draft Strategic Plan, which will be prepared and presented to the Commission in October and, once approved, will guide business and work plans over the next five years.
The community and stakeholder engagement process will take place from August 16 to September 19.
An online survey is available. More information on Panorama Recreation can be found here.
The CRD Peninsula Recreation Commission is a partnership of the municipalities of Sidney, North Saanich and Central Saanich, which are located just north of Victoria, B.C. on the Saanich Peninsula. The Commission serves the 36,000 residents in these municipalities as well as the 2,400 residents of the Pauquachin, Tsawout, Tseycum and Tsartlip First Nations. The Commission provides direction and oversight over the Panorama Recreations Centre and other facilities and programs operated by the CRD. Funding for the Commission's operations comes from user fees and requisitions from the three municipalities.
