CRD Arts Commission approves operating grants to 31 non-profit arts organizations

Feb 03, 2022

Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District (CRD) Arts Commission has approved funding to 31 non-profit arts organizations of regional significance through the Arts & Culture Support Service. A total of $2,281,270 will provide operating assistance to arts organizations for programming and administration expenses in 2022, an increase of $45,770 over last year.

“These organizations continue to demonstrate resilience in navigating the many challenges presented by the COVID pandemic, while continuing to support wellbeing in the region through arts and culture programming” says CRD Arts Commission Chair Jeremy Loveday. “CRD’s support continues to play a critical role in contributing to the stability of arts organizations during this particularly difficult period.”

In 2020, CRD grants accounted for approximately 11% of total revenues for operating grant recipients (+3% compared to 2019). While organization requests were 14% more than available resources, the Arts Commission provided increases in funding to 12 organizations (view the list of recipients below).

The approved grants meet the CRD’s mandate to support, promote and celebrate arts and culture. The CRD Arts & Culture Support Service is supported by Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Highlands, Metchosin, Sooke and Southern Gulf Islands.
