Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District (CRD) is updating the strategic plan for community parks and recreation in the Juan de Fuca (JdF) Electoral Area. The draft strategic plan is now available for public review and feedback. The plan will help guide acquisition and management priorities for the next 10 years.
The JdF Community Parks Service includes 26 community parks and 8.6 km of designated trails. The Recreation Service manages a community hall and provides recreation programming to local residents. The services are managed by one part-time administrator and two seasonal maintenance staff. Oversight is provided by the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. Local community groups also help to care for the parks.
Before drafting the strategic plan, the CRD received input from approximately 350 local residents, 14 community groups, and First Nations on whose traditional territory the electoral area is located.
The draft strategic plan is now posted on getinvolved.crd.bc.ca/jdf-parks-rec for anyone who wishes to provide feedback. Comments received will be considered ahead of the final draft being prepared for review and approval by the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
Feedback can be provided from October 17 to November 6, 2022.
