Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission Elections

Victoria, BC–- The 2023 Salt Spring Island Local Community Commission Election is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2023. The Capital Regional District (CRD) will be conducting voting to elect four Commissioners to join Gary Holman, Salt Spring Island Electoral Area Director, to form the Local Community Commission (LCC).

The LCC will oversee and advise on economic development, liquid waste disposal, community parks and recreation, small craft harbour facilities, transit and transportation, street lighting, grants-in-aid, compensation for livestock injured by dogs, and the contribution services for arts, public library, and search and rescue. For all voting opportunities, you must be a qualified resident or non-resident property elector.

Advanced voting opportunities take place on Wednesday, May 17 and 24, 2023 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the following venues:

  • Salt Spring Island Public Library, 129 McPhillips Ave.
  • Salt Spring Island Community Gospel Chapel, 147 Vesuvius Bay Rd.

General voting day takes place on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Voting locations include:

  • Salt Spring Island Public Library, 129 McPhillips Ave.
  • Salt Spring Island Community Gospel Chapel, 147 Vesuvius Bay Rd.
  • Salt Spring Island Fulford Hall - Seniors' Centre, 2591 Fulford-Ganges Rd.

All voting locations are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

In addition, mail ballot voting is now available to all resident and non-resident property electors. Eligible electors must submit a completed mail ballot application form no later than May 5, 2023.
