Three surveys will explore attitudes and common practices on waste management

Jul 17, 2024

Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District’s (CRD’s) Solid Waste Market Research and Engagement Study seeks to understand residents' and businesses' attitudes and behaviours towards waste reduction and management practices. If you received an invitation, or use the Hartland Public Drop-off Depot, we encourage you to participate!

CRD education and outreach initiatives are key components of the Solid Waste Management Plan and the CRD wants insights on what is working well and what could be improved to help the region reduce waste by more than one-third by 2031.

R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd., a Victoria-based research firm, is conducting the market research study and administering the following surveys on behalf of the CRD:

  • Resident Survey (July 17th – August 14th)
  • Business Survey (July 17th – August 14th)
  • Hartland Public Drop-off Depot Survey (July 24th – August 21st)

Randomly selected participants for the resident survey will receive a notification letter in the mail and randomly selected participants for the business survey will receive a notification letter by email. The public drop-off depot survey will be open to anyone visiting the Hartland Public Drop-off Depot during the survey period.

The results from the CRD Solid Waste Market Research and Engagement Study will show the level of understanding and attitudes residents and businesses have now and help the CRD plan waste reduction programs, like workshops, community outreach and promotional campaigns.

More information about the surveys can be found online at www.CRD.malatest.com. For inquiries or feedback related to why the CRD is conducting this research please email rethinkwaste@crd.bc.ca
