Port Renfrew Official Community Plan Update

Nov 20, 2024

Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District (CRD) is working with the paaʔčiidʔatx̣ (Pacheedaht) First Nation and the Port Renfrew community to update the Port Renfrew Official Community Plan (OCP). The updated OCP will re-establish the community’s long-term vision reflecting the diverse needs and aspirations of all community members.

An OCP is a community’s most important planning document. It informs key decisions that impact how and where we live, our ways of getting around, access to services, protection of the natural environment, and the form, location, and quality of future growth.

The updated OCP will serve as a comprehensive guide for land use, development, and community planning, incorporating the unique perspectives and priorities of the paaʔčiidʔatx̣ First Nation and the broader Port Renfrew community.

The development and adoption of the OCP will be influenced by community engagement, planning best practices, and analysis of environmental, socioeconomic, and demographic information.

Community members are invited to an open house to learn more and share thoughts on the OCP.

Where: Port Renfrew Community Centre at 6638 Deering Road, Port Renfrew

When: December 10, 4:00 – 6:00 pm

The CRD looks forward to working closely with the paaʔčiidʔatx̣ First Nation and the Port Renfrew community throughout this process, ensuring that the updated OCP supports the long-term vision and well-being of all residents.
