Glass (unbroken windows)
Have you undertaken a renovation or demolition project and ended up with a stash of unbroken windows? If your window has some aesthetic appeal, an antiques or consignment store may be willing to take it off your hands. How do I go green?

Refrain from replacing older windows. Keep the cold out and heat in by properly weather stripping around the window and installing heavy curtains and/or shutters.

A timber framed multi-pane or sash and case glass window makes an interesting design element when mounted on the wall or on an exterior garden wall.

  • The Environmental Story

Like glass containers, glass windows will take nearly an eternity to biodegrade in a landfill. Glass windows or window glass are not accepted through curbside recycling, but there are still some green options for the Capital Region resident.
