What would you like to Recycle?

Motor Oil (commercial)

Motor Oil (commercial)
Commercial quantities of used motor oil need to be safely collected, stored, and diverted from our landfill using a reputable company who will take care of this toxic substance.

Motor oil can be recycled through the province-wide British Columbia Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA) product stewardship program. This not-for-profit group is dedicated to the collection and recycling of lubricating oil, oil filters, oil containers, antifreeze and antifreeze containers in BC. A full list of what is accepted and free depot locations is available on their website.

How do I go green?

Implement a no-idling policy to reduce oil and gas use across your fleet. When purchasing new power tools, machinery, vehicles, select brands with components or engines that will accept either biodegradable or longer lasting synthetic oils. Regularly check for and block leaks.

Unless you are prepared to set up your own processing plant to re-refine your commercial quantities of used motor oil, the best option is to collect used oil and pass it on to a recycler.

Contact facilities directly regarding restrictions and charges for collection and removal of commercial quantities of motor oil.

Used motor oil is re-refined for reuse and uses two-thirds less energy than refining crude oil. Used oil is also used in the production of asphalt or can be burned as an energy source.
