About the System
The CRD operates the retail drinking water distribution system for Colwood, Langford, Metchosin, View Royal, Sooke and parts of Highlands and the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area (East Sooke) through the Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System. This system supplies water to approximately 58,000 residential and business customers.
The Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System was established as a CRD service in 1997 and is administered by the Juan de Fuca Water Distribution Commission, which is made up of elected representatives from the member municipalities in the service area.
Source Water
The Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System obtains its drinking water from the Regional Water Supply System.
Distribution System
The Juan de Fuca Water Distribution System consists of 15 storage reservoirs, 37 pumping stations, 435 km of water mains, 6,158 valves, 1,558 fire hydrants, and over 18,000 retail water meters.
