  • Park Re-Openings After Wildfire near Sooke Potholes (Old Man Lake Wildfire)

    The Capital Regional District (CRD) is re-opening official trails within the Sea to Sea Regional Park as well as a section of Sooke Potholes Regional Park and Galloping Goose Regional Trail after closures due to a wildfire in the area. The CRD anticipates some areas, particularly the northern parts of the Sea to Sea Regional Park, northern sections of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail and Kapoor Regional Park to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

    The Capital Regional District (CRD) has acquired the property at 280 Georgeson Bay Road on Galiano Island for the proposed Thuthiqut Hulelum’ Housing Project ("Forest Homes" in the Hul'q'umi'num' language). The $672,000 purchase is a move to advance a 20-unit rental housing complex aimed at enhancing the Islands affordable living options.
