Noise bylaws are in effect to ensure the peace and enjoyment of residents of the CRD. Certain types of activity, such as construction, are restricted by time of day.

Authority

Authority for noise enforcement is derived from Bylaw 3378 and is funded by requisition.

Administration

The CRD Bylaw staff enforce noise bylaws for three Electoral Areas in accordance with procedures and provisions of the Local Government Act and after regular office hours, the RCMP responds to noise complaints.

Unsightly Premises

This bylaw ensures that residents do not have to tolerate unsightly premises in their community. The bylaw has provisions to ticket offenders or take them to court and force them to clean up their property. In some cases, the CRD may remove items and send a bill for clean-up to the property owner.
