To ensure that analytical testing is performed to the highest possible standard for municipal and CRD owned water systems, the CRD Drinking Water Quality Laboratory maintains certification and accreditation to provincial and international requirements. The lab services also include aquatic ecology services to monitor the ecological health of CRD-operated systems that have surface water sources.

British Columbia Provincial Health Officer Water Bacteriology Testing Laboratory Approval

Approval is maintained by ongoing satisfactory participation in the Clinical Microbiology Proficiency Testing (CMPT) program and onsite external audits by the Enhanced Water Quality Association (EWQA) every 3 years.

ISO 17025:2005 Accreditation

 Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA) accreditation to International Standards Organization (ISO) 17025:2005 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

Accreditation is maintained by ongoing satisfactory participation in the proficiency testing program (2 times per year) and onsite external audits by CALA every 2 years.
